Considered one of the top 10 swimming holes in New England, Bartlett Falls is located off River Road on the way to Lincoln, about 2 miles east from the center of town. Park along the road and head down to the river for summer fun at the swimming hole.
Off North Street, about two miles north of town, is a road leading to an access point for Bristol Pond, a wonderful area for canoeing and kayaking.
The New Haven River borders our town and is considered by many to be one of the finest trout fishing rivers in the United States.
Many trails wind their way through our meadows and forests. A map of nearby trails is available from the Bristol Recreation Department in Holley Hall or at Art on Main at 25 Main Street. Ask about how to hike to The Ledges for a bird’s eye view of Bristol.
The New Haven River, where it rushes through Bristol along River Road, is considered one of the best white water rivers in New England during the springtime.
